Post-grad Opportunities 

The skills and experience acquired in the debate program are invaluable for students who desire to continue on to graduate school, law school or enter the workforce. Students who have mastered the art of assembling an applicable and comprehensive debate file have learned the skills necessary to provide the foundation for a lifetime of research, writing and professional skills. Writing a master's thesis becomes possible and even second-nature. Studying for the LSAT, the GRE or even a state Bar exam is a much more manageable task in the context of the advanced research and study skills gained on the debate team. Many students interested in law school find that the debate team is excellent practice for the court room, but debate prepares students for any profession, from journalism to business to teaching and beyond.

"Spider Debaters" have gone on to participate in service organizations such as Teach for America, top graduate and law programs across the country, as well as many interesting career fields across a spectrum of professions.
